Twinsburg City Schools cancels classes after lightning hits high school

TWINSBURG, Ohio — A lightning strik💙e Sunday morning at Twinsburg High School has disrupted the district’s power supply, forcing it to cancel all classes for Monday as it works to repair the damaꦬge.

“Although our staff, as well as the electricians, have been troubleshooting all day, the necessary repairs cannot begin until (Monday),” on the district’s 𓆉website. “Unfortunately, this is a day-to-day situation based upon the availability of the parts that are needed for the repair.”

The statement says the district’s phones, fire alarms, suppression systems and HVAC all rely on the internet and the servers are house🍸d at the high school. The servers currently are inoperable and because all of the district’s buildings operate on the same network, all classes were canceled for Monday.

AP exams in the areas of U.S. government and politics, art history, and chemistry still will be administꦗered Monday at SS Cosmas & Damian School, 104🎃19 Ravenna Road, as scheduled, the statement says. Students taking AP exams should arrive 20 minutes prior to the start of the exam.

The statement says parents should email the district’s transportation office at [email protected] before 7 a.m. Monday if personal transportaꦑtion is ne⛦eded for a student.

Students who attend Cuyahoga Valley Career Center will have classes Monday and transportation will be provided, the district says. Tra🐓nsportation also will be provided to private and parochial schools students.
